MIDI Editor: Pinch-to-zoom position is inverted

  1. Summary/Title
MIDI Editor: Pinch-to-zoom position is inverted.

  2. Description
I finally figured out why the vertical zooming is so wonky in the MIDI Editor. The vertical location of your fingers when doing a vertical pinch or spread is detected incorrectly. For example, if you place your fingers 25% from the top of the window and pinch or spread them to do a vertical zoom, the zooming will be centered at 75% from the top of the window (25% from the bottom) rather than under your fingers.

  3. Expected Results
Vertical zooming of the MIDI Editor should be centered on the part of the screen where you pinch or spread your fingers.

  4. Actual Results
Vertical zooming is not centered at your fingers unless you happen to pinch or spread exactly in the vertical center of the window.

  5. Environment
    M1 iPad Pro, iPadOS 26.4.1

Good observation!

I guess this happens because Cubasis detects the pinch gesture anywhere in the piano-roll view and then zooms from the center, same goes for horizontal zoom.

Vertical pinch-zoom in the arranger is also something I sometimes accidentally do and it’s also a bit wonky until I remember it’s better to use the zoom handles…

Hi @TimClark

Thanks for your report!

The issue is planned to be resolved in the next Cubasis update (though it may still take some time until it is released).

Best,
Lars
