Midi export import doesn't work

I have 2 versions of a project. In regards to midi, the older one I have the score setup like I want except I have an older drum version. The newer one has drum part and score that I am satisfied with. so I just want to export that and import into the older version.

I tried both methods. If I try to export the one midi file using the export menu, then when I import, I get the drum part plus a bunch of empty midi tracks, though I soloed the drum track. Even when assigned to the TD50x, like the other and set to same drum map, it comes out looking similar but some notes don’t play, like the bass drums. I click on a note and it sounds, I play and no sound.

The other method, dragging the drum midi part out to explorer and importing back in has a different result. Here the drum parts are not concentrated at the top like before but spread out all over and also wrong sound, though assignments have been made to TD50x and same drum score.

Called tech help with team viewer and had to be escalated as inexplicable, like so many of my problems without solutions. Like ‘edit in scores’ always grayed out.

Hi,

You can make Cubase projects from both of the MIDI files. Then you can go for Import from Project.

So I took a snip test of the note assignments on the desired drum track and then made corrections on the least differing imported version, and which had some wrong, but no missing sounds. Now it sounds just like the original as far as I can tell, so then I check its score. Same drum map but incomprehensible result x is hihat sound, correctly. all else numbers. Has anyone but me ever seen the like? What a buggy program! As far as making new projects, both are already with lots of audio and midi tracks that would be a huge undertaking to start new.
