Midi file export - Details documentation

Hello, trying to export a type 0 midi file I discovered that the documentation is practicaly unexistent on this subject!
So, I ask the Steinberg team to create a complete documentation including at a minimum the actions of the marker track on the exported file structure (Cf Internet site of Mr Robinez with his video on the Korg PA 5X).
Time and stress, certainly you know this problem very well!
Have a good day!

Hi,

SMF Type 0 was used only for a very short time in 80". I don’t think it makes sense to write detailed documentation nowadays. Why do you need SMF0, please?

The export behaves like SMF1, but all data are packed into a single track.

Hello, I have an arranger keyboard yamaha psr s750 which can load style files.
Those style files are now easy to make with the recent and free yamaha application name is “Song to style”.
This app accept only midi type 0 file in entry, so it’s important to know how to make a compatible midi file ( markers, prog change,…).
You can see the last video of Mr Robinez(Dk) which tell us how to use Cubase with the Korg PA 5x.
Hoping reading you soon,
Franck

Hi,

I can import SMF1 file to the Yamaha Song to Style application.

OK, but I doesn’t see the result exactly.
Is it possible to give several tracks for a yamaha style to the application , that is drum track, bass track, accompagnement track 1 and track 2 as a minimum exemple.
If you succeed with that, please send me your midi project in such a way I will be able to try?
Regards,
Franck

Hi,

I’m sorry, I don’t use the Yamaha Song to Style application at all (and I don’t know, how to use it). But the file has been loaded.

So if you can load the file, but you don’t get an expected result, talk to Yamaha forum, please.

Good morning, as I said to Mr chavane It’s now possible for me to give a midi type 0 file to the Yamaha Song to style because I followed a tutorial on YouTube about the Korg pa 5x.
I discovered that the markers have to be positioned on a cubase dedicated track and that they have to be labeled with the correct text!..
But I didn’t find in the Cubase documentation how to use this functionality.
Please avoid the ping pong between Steinberg and Yamaha, I think that your documentation is not indicating the use of markers to obtain a type 0 midi file.
Following the advice of Mr Chavane I ask you for obtaining a new up to date Cubase documentation.

Hi,

To me, it looks like this is a specific requirement by the Yamaha software. So it’s on Yamaha software to describe, how to get this.

As mentioned, SMF0 is not required.
