MIDI Import: Trouble setting 2 instruments on 2 tracks to a single player

I am importing a MIDI file from Logic which has 8 instruments. The first 2, picc and flute, should be assigned to a single player, and same with the clarinet and bass clarinet pair. When I have the import settings window open, I can find no option which lets me change the highlighted player on the right:

I have re-read the docs but appear to be missing a step. Help much appreciated!

OK, so I see that this cannot be done during the import. Confusing to have the information there and not editable.
