I’ve been having audio engine problems with Dorico 5 since the beginning so I haven’t been able to use it very much. I keep installing the updates and it’s getting better but I can’t use my USB midi keyboard(AKAI MPK Mini) for note entry. My Korg piano plugged in through the Motu micro lite works fine. The USB always works when I’m running Dorico 4, but rarely with Dorico 5. Any help is greatly appreciated. I tried to attach a diag file, but it’s 9 MB and it says the max is 4. Thanks.
You could unzip the diagnostics report and zip it again to smaller chunks and attach here in several postings.
And what is the biggest part, is it the CrashDump folder? Maybe you could first make a listing, and then I could tell which ones we actually want to have.
Thanks
Here are the Activation Manager, Audio Engine and Dorico folders zipped up. The crashes folder has a 30MB file in it named Dorico4.exe.29280.dmp that zips up to 8MB. Let me know if you need anything else. Thanks.

Thanks for the data @4trtone .
Your MPK does get recognized and enabled for input. so I would expect MIDI input to be working.
But please try out following: Go to Dorico’s Preferences dialog, choose the Play tab and scroll all the way down , unfold the Advanced Options and switch off the WinRT option. Then Apply and Close and restart Dorico . Is it then working with your MPK?
And we will also want to get hands on that big dump file. I’ll send you a private message about an upload location, please check.
I am having the same problem. My MPK249 has been a primary source for note inputting and has stopped working. My Dorico 5 does not have the option that you suggested here…Go to Dorico’s Preferences dialog… When I get to Advanced Options the only option I have isEnable ASIO-Guard and Enable High-DPI plug-in user interfaces.
Welcome to the forum @Jack_Graham .
If you don’t have that option, then that means you are on a Mac.
Please make sure that your keyboard is connected while starting up, and then please choose from the menu Help > Create Diagnostics Report and the corresponding zip file send to u dot stoermer at steinberg dot de. Thanks
Greetings.
New Dorico user here, having same problem with M-Audio Keystation Mini32 in new installation of Dorico 5 Pro on Windows 11.
Keystation keyboard is working for input with MuseScore but not with Dorico.
–It’s plugged in before I start DORICO
–It’s listed in the DORICO Preferences/Play/Midi Input Devices dialog box
–WINRT option is unchecked in Advanced Options section.
I’ve sent Diagnostics Report to u dot stoermer at steinberg dot de in case you need it.
Thanks in advance for any assistance you can provide.

Welcome to the forum, Jay. Sorry to hear you’re having problems with MIDI input. Have you tried changing the WinRT MIDI setting and restarting Dorico? Do you see the little green indicator flash in the very bottom right hand corner of the Dorico project window when you play keys on the keyboard?
Thanks for the diagnostics @rjsappington . Dorico does recognize your Keystation and also the settings look good. I’m wondering, do you actually get sound out, from your project or one of the demo projects?
Also, you are using the Generic Low Latency ASIO driver which got superseeded by the Steinberg Built-in ASIO driver. If you go to Edit > Device Setup, is that one listed as well? Does that one work?
Greetings, Ulf, Thank you for your (prompt!) reply. The driver defaulted upon installation to the Generic Low Latency ASIO, but the Steinberg Built-in was also available. Selecting that successfully enabled sound output. Quick and simple (but obscure!). Thank you!
