Midi keyboard randomly losing connection

Just a Soundcard and the MIDI keyboard. Anything else goes through a powered hub.

Browse to your power scheme or search “edit power plan” on your computer, click on change advanced settings, expand the USB settings item in the new pop up - USB selective suspend setting should be there. No??

Hi Pete

I’ve tried a number of new steps

  1. I’ve changed the A-B cable for a better one
  2. I have disconnected all electrical devices not involved with the studio setup

The keyboard still disconnects randomly
Also, if I put pc to sleep and then awaken and relaunch Cubase, the soundcard now doesn’t produce any output unless I disconnect and reconnect the usb.
This started after rewiring everything electrically!

The latter issue (sleep and wake) is a known issue in the new stack that we (Microsoft) need to solve.

As for the disconnect, I have no idea what’s up there given everything you’ve tried. But I can say that the old WinMM code is somewhat more resilient to this because it’s local to the app (not shared) and it effectively reconnects to the device every time messages are sent. Not sure how that will translate to this case, but if you don’t need any of the new features like multi-client or built-in loopbacks, you can try it out.

Instructions for changing to “Legacy API Mode” here:
