On two different computers (Win 10 and Win 11) using the latest Cubase 14 build, the sense of the ‘Capture Events’ button on the SYSTEM level MIDI Monitor window is backwards. Note that the sense of the switch on the MIDI Monitor window that appears with a MIDI Monitor Insert IS correct.
- Studio | Studio Setup … | MIDI | MIDI Port Setup
- Click on the DIN plug icon in the MIDI Port Setup list of MIDI ports for either an input or an output MIDI port with ongoing MIDI activity. For example, click on the DIN plug icon associated with the MOTIF XS1 Input Port when the MOTIF is outputting MIDI clock.
- The monitor window will open with the ‘Capture Events’ button depicted with black text on a white background (I run the dark theme). This should be the Active state.
- By default, nearly every event type should be captured.
- On my system I see no events listed until I click the ‘Capture Events’ button to turn it OFF (in OFF state it shows white text on a black background). Then I actually capture and see events.
- The monitor window associated with the MIDI Monitor INSERT works as expected (i.e., it captures events when the capture is enabled - black text on white background).
