Hi everyone,
I’m using VST Live Pro 2 (latest version on macOS) and I’ve noticed an annoying behavior:
During playback, in some cases, at the start of a bar where a part begins (precisely at XX.1.0), some MIDI notes placed exactly at that point are not played.
This happens with both Steinberg instruments (such as HALion and Padshop) and third-party VST plugins.
I’ve confirmed that manually shifting the notes slightly forward (e.g., to XX.1.1.1 or later) solves the issue, but doing this every time is not practical—especially in more complex projects.
So I’d like to ask:
Is this a known behavior?
Is there a setting to force early loading of MIDI events at the beginning of a part?
Is a “MIDI preroll” or “MIDI chase” feature planned to prevent this kind of note loss?
At 128 (the original BPM), Clips Dr 3 and Dr 7 are deprived of their first brush sound.
At 129, it’s just the same
At 130, only Dr 5 is incomplete
At 131, the problem occurs on Dr 6
At 132, problem on Dr 2
At 133 and above, all Clips are playing nicely
Another clue is that if you play from 2.1 and not from 1.1, things are totally different. As an example, with a tempo set to 130, if you start playing at 2.1, the Clips altered are: Dr 1, Dr 4, Dr 5, Dr 7 and Dr 8.
And one more thing, a correctly playing Clip is also altered if you copy or move it to the location of a wrong played one.
All of my songs are probably corrupted by this issue, and it’s hard to bear. I can detect immediately the missing notes on a bass part, it is less obvious when it concerns more discreet notes, and so frustrating when you realize!
