MIDI Program changes for use by Symphonic Riot VI articulation maps

I am using Vienna Instruments in a Vienna Ensemble Pro 7 set up, with Symphonic riot articulations. How do I set up the MIDI program change messages to address the VIs?

Don’t they provide expression maps to take care of all that?

Not completely; making the right choice in the matrix selector is under the control of Program Change numbers, hence my question. (Unless I have grossly misunderstood the baffling SR manuals.)

You may need to use the VST2 version of the VI Player; VST3 doesn’t support Program Change

This from SR tec support:

‘To use the supported VSL libraries in Dorico, all you need to do is to import the included Playback Templates and activate one of them, as described in the Setup section of the Dorico Articulate Map Manual. Aside from that, everything is already set up. In Dorico CC85 is used by now since, as you write, the VST3 version of VI pro does not support program change messages anymore. But this only affects how Dorico communicates internally with VI pro and not something the user has to take into account.’
