Is this possible in cubase? I want to be be able to have midi clips of short one or two bar phrases that repeat but then I input further midi note info via keyboard to transpose these phrases or riffs on the fly and have these transpositions recorded and then added together to become the new piece of music. thanks in advance to any advice.

Check out ARPACHE SX in the list of MIDI inserts. Use the tab labeled “sequence”. You can drag and drop midi patterns from your project.
