Midi recording shifts all notes to the start of the event

Hi

I have used cubase artist 8 for a long time - this week it has decided that it does not want to record midi tracks correctly anymore.

I am using Scarlett 8i6 as my interface and simply connected my triton le via the mini out to the midi in on the scarlett. I have midi coming through and can play whatever vst i have connected so midi coming in is not an issue

I set my locators to record a track and then it proceeds to crush all the data into the first part of the bar - the only thing i can connect to this is that whatever i set the quantise to that becomes to length of the notes. I’m not aware that I have changed anything, but I’ve done the usual reboots and tried other projects previously recorded ok and the same applies to those too.

I’m sure someone knows exactly whats happened and its an easy fix, but I cannot find whatever setting has changed to make this happen.

The screen shot shows a recording with Q at 1/1

TIA

Hi and welcome to the forum,

Do you have the Auto-Q enabled by any chance?

Hi Martin

No I don’t have auto Q enabled, it appears that the notes are anchored to the start of the event - as in when recording if i hold a note, its attached to the start and then is visible for the duration i hold the key then it disappears to the start of the event.

It’s doing my nut in now, as I haven’t changed anything.

Regards
Paul

Hi,

Other idea I have is, the input device doesn’t send correct Timestamp data.

What do you see, if you add the MIDI Monitor MIDI Insert, please? Could you attach a screenshot?
