Is it possible to split midi regions while keeping the midi data in both midi regions? (Meaning that, if later I decide to extend one of the newly created midi regions all the data is there)

Edit - Copy
Edit - Cut Tail
Edit - Paste at Origin
Edit - Cut Head

Is there any way to do exactly this but without the object selection tool? I want to do this with the range selection tool (macro doesnt work with range selection tool because it can’t select and do the copy)
