MIDI Remote: Archive Could Not Be Imported - Cubase 13

I’m having an issue where i can’t import my midi remote scripts that I created in Cubase 12 into Cubase 13. I consistently get the error “Archive could not be imported”. The import works flawlessly in Cubase 12 though. It’s for a CMC AI and TP device.

I’ve tried creating new scripts in Cubase 13 and that works initially, but once i restart 13 those also disappear. I export and save them before restarting and can’t import them after. (the same archive error)

Interesting… Mind sharing your midi remote so we can have a look too?

Sure, no problem!
Steinberg_CMC - AI 2.midiremote (3.8 KB)
Steinberg_CMC - TP.midiremote (4.4 KB)

I’ve downloaded and imported both in Cubase 13 (0.21) with no error message, so I’m not sure what can cause this, I was thinking of some corruption in the files, but they are healthy

Hmm ok, thanks for getting back to me. I’ll trouble shoot some more.

I am having the same problem! This too “I’ve tried creating new scripts in Cubase 13 and that works initially, but once i restart 13 those also disappear. I export and save them before restarting and can’t import them after. (the same archive error)”

Glad to hear i’m not the only one with the issue. Hopefully this can get resolved. Are you on macOS?

I’m on Windows. I don’t know what happened in one night, after over a month of using the remote with no issue that, first, all the mapping disappeared but then I remapped it and all was good. Exported the .midiremote and all seemed good. Start up next day and it’s completely gone, panel / mapping. Nada. After some attempts at trying to figure it out I remembered I had back up system on weekend so found the files there and put them back and all is working again. Still don’t know what caused the issue to begin as I didn’t even know where the files were kept when the problem first occurred. I hope C13 isn’t just randomly deleting files.

Same problem, Cubase 13, Win 11.

I’ve just come up with a solution. From what i’ve realized it seems the folder located on mac at /Users/yourusername/Documents/Steinberg has become corrupt. I simply renamed that steinberg folder to “Steinberg Test” Cubase then created a new folder titled “Steinberg” at startup. With that new folder i can import old scripts and it saves the scripts when Cubase 13 is restarted. Hope this helps!

had the same problem for a couple days!

if your on mac , Go to your Privacy Setting/

Then go to Files and Folders /

Turn on Documents For cubase /

This should work and the 'scripts should be able to import and save from anywhere in the computer
