This came from ASM on this forum thread.
I kept the whole previous Cubase (14).I stupidly thought that would protect me from any 15 nonsense.
Do you have a backup of the MIDI Remote folder? If so, restore the folder from there.
If not, rename the MIDI Remote folder to e.g. MIDI Remote_FAULTY (with Cubase closed) and restart Cubase. The folder will be recreated by Cubase, and the necessary factory files will be copied into it automatically. Then, re-add your MIDI Remote device; the Akai MPK mini mk2/3 is included in the factory package anyway. Finally, quit Cubase and create a copy of the MIDI Remote folder, which you can use for restoration the next time an issue occurs. ![]()
Mine make 3 to 4 copies sometimes and none of that works.
I try to export the script and its overwrite it last time and all gone.
Then i remapped it and waiting for a real solution..
Thats very annoyiny.
What MIDI controller model do you have? Maybe there is a factory script in Cubase for it. If so, you can follow the steps described above. Create a folder backup while MIDI Remote is working.
Cubase versions 14 and 15 share the same MIDI Remote folder.
Steinberg doesn’t have the resources to fix major issues like this, but it has the resources to create annoying animated dots and a windscreen wiper on the profile picture on the forums. WTF?
This is a feature provided by our forum software provider. Rest assured, no Cubase engineering effort was diverted to animate the profile picture.
Yep that makes sense. Bummer.
Ben_at_Steinberg,
In the spirit of staying “on topic”, is it possible for you to provide us with a progress report on what might be the problem, the solution, and perhaps an idea of when we can see a resolution. Knowing that work is being done to resolve the problem with a long term FIX could alleviate some of the frustration that is present with the Cubase users in this forum.
Me? I have Akai MPKmini2, so there is pre made script. Problem is I´ve been going back and forth, in circles, messing about with things and concepts I don´t really know what is. It´s impossible to remember what I have changed… It´s all a mess.
Sorry, the question was directed at @RBS87. I know you have an MPK mini. ![]()
Did you follow my suggestion?
@ASM that what happening? ITs keylab 25,
@ASM please reply to this thread. As adcive i started new thread
its messy here hard to get. Thanks
I have seen this with my M-Audio Pro 49.
Sometimes when it really messes things up, it will load multiple surfaces that are empty. I just deleted them.
Now I am using ASM’s advice about storing a working Midi Remote Folder and just replace the corrupted folder with a clean copy.
So far this has worked to restore everything back to “normal”. But this is a work around, not a fix.
I believe it is a Cubase programing issue.
Thanks for writing, but my one not working and my script when i export its overwrite and nothing change. Still missing. I dont know what a fix for that once its start working i will copy the folder and replace it everytime it create trouble. Lets see when cubase get a notice on this.
That is what I had to do. I had to start over, recreate a working surface. Then export the working script (as a backup) and then I made a copy of the functioning Midi Remote folder and stored that good folder in special folder on my storage drive. Now I have a clean version that I can copy back into the Cubase folder every time the program crashes my mapping. I think this is what you are saying. But my apologize if I’m not understanding correctly.
I understand this is a user forum but come on Steinberg I’m sure you follow these threads.
This is a biggy, I don’t want to be trying move this file, delete this file go to this folder in the documents, blah blah…
It would be professional to acknowledge the issue, reassure that it’s being addressed and maybe an Idea of when you hope to have it working.
We do follow these threads. Matthias already acknowledged the issue and that it’s being worked on further up the thread…
Ok fair enough.
This thread has become quite large, I clearly missed this. My bad.
