Midi Remote Mappings Disappeared

No idea what happened. But when I go to the midi remote page. All the mappings are gone.

I tried replacing the preference folder with a daily backup and I also checked to make sure my downloads folder wasn’t “offline” and that the files had been downloaded from iCloud. But neither thing worked.

All the objects are there, but the mappings are gone….

okay, got them back via TimeMachine. Grabbed the old file from the documents folder in Time Machine and replaced it with the current one…

Hi,

Update to the latest Cubase 14.0.40, please.

I am having this issue on Nuendo after updating to version 14.0.40 - all mappings are gone! How can i restore them? This is hours and hours of work all gone and i can’t reload the mappings by importing the script file from my backup.

So I continued to have issues with this after my post. Updating to the latest version of Cubase did nothing for me as well.

What I found was that the Steinberg folder in my user/documents folder (I’m on a Mac) had basically been wiped out. I’m not even sure the default settings were there.

I was able to recover that folder from a backup and that fixed everything.

Hopefully you can do the same.

Same just happend to me with 15. I saved the mappings as global in 14, it worked fine for months and now got overwritten. (same happend several times before - so I don’t think the switch to 15 has something to do with it.) I tried to get it back opening an older Cubase 14 project, but it seems that file got overwritten. This is annyoing and should really be fixed!
Where do I find the needed pref file in my time machine?

Edit: Found it. Worked. Thank you!

Same here after uploading to C15. Global mappings are gone. This is the most annoying thing a software ever did to me. Days of hard work gone like that.

There is something wrong for sure. I again had to restore my mappsings from time machine. And everytime I start C15 I have to manually load the global mapping (and always hope it is still there). I hope they will fix this as this is such a fundamental thing.

The same thing happens to me with Cubase 14.
I guess I can give up hope that the problem will be solved in Cubase 15. I also don’t understand why the file is constantly updated when saving a project, even though no new assignments are made.

Same here. After installing Cubase15 the hardware custom mapping pages I had created in Cubase 14 are no longer displayed in the MIDI Remote toolbar and in the Mapping Assistant. The Cubase default maps (Korg Nanokontrol2) are displayed and available for use. Returning to Cubase14 my custom maps had also disappeared. I’m not sure if this is relevant, but I had purchased and installed some UAD plugins in Cubase15 after the initial installation. Could the UAD wrapper possibly have any bearing on the issue? It’s the only difference I can think of. (Cubase 15 Pro, Windows10. JSON Scripts still appear in the User Settings folder).

It seems to have something to do with saving projects. For me, the contents of the global mapping file are regularly deleted after I close Cubase. Cubase does not crash, but closes normally.
Another problem seems to occur when loading projects with old assignments.
In my screenshot, you can see that my M-Audio file is 10 KB in size. The assignments are still there.
For some unknown reason, the file for my Korg controller has been reset again. The assignments have been deleted and the file size is now only 1 KB.

On my site, it always happens, when I start Cubase without the controllers connected. I Just started Cubase and forgot that I unplugged one controller. I closed Cubase, connected the controller, but the dammage was done. All mappings got lost. So again using time machine backup folders to get things right. This is a painful bug. PLEASE PLEASE fix this soon Steinberg!

Same here. The midi remote area is quite an ordeal in Cubase 15. I haven’t been able to pinpoint what exactly happens but i’ve had to remap my faderport a few times already.

If only there was a way you could export the mappings separately, just like we can with key commands or PLE scripts. They seem to be saved in the .midireamote file which is a bugfest

I just discovered that switching my Roland FP10 off and on again while Cubase is up and running kills all my MIDI Remotes. Completely re-producible.

Same here, every day my midi script gets deleted after shutting down my pc in my case.
the weird thing also that even if i save and export my midi mapping and import it after. all the mapping is not saved.

did anyone found a solution ? or we are all midi mappless until stienberg fixes this issue?

It’s best to make a backup of the ‘globalmappings’ file. All assignments are stored there.

I don’t know if Steinberg is aware of the problem, which now affects many users.

Is Steinberg reading this, or is there a contact person?

@Martin.Jirsak , perhaps?

I experienced the disappearance of all assignments to my midi remote yesterday as well. I created the midi remote in C14 and have painstakingly over a few months refined it. After installing C15, the scripts have worked without any problems.

Only yesterday, when possibly for the first time after starting to use C15, I was using my computer without the midi controller connected, and accidentally I opened C14 instead of C15, I found that the midi remote assignments have disappeared. I can’t think of anything else that I did out of the ordinary than what I describe above. Now, in C15, the layout that I created for the controller is there but no functions are assigned. The script file shows that it was updated yesterday and it is empty (1 kb). Unfortunately I do not have a backup.

Nuendo 14.0.40.0 here, same all my mapping pages are gone and the MIDI Controller driver scripts are showing a recent save . . . this is a pain . . . also when you pick a mapping page for a given controller, where is that Mapping PAGE drop down storing the names of the pages . . because that’s what missing in the MIDI Remote lower zone. I had a couple different mapping pages for the same controller, now only Default is showing as a choice. I don’t like this ‘feature’

Probably not.
