Hello,
Not sure why Midi Remote is all of the sudden not working. I have not changed anything except update Cubase to the latest version. I am still able to make assignments to control VSTs and midi tracks directly with my midi controler, but the remote midi no longer works. I went to set up a new mapping, and Cubase will no longer let me do this. WTF!

While trying to remap, I have encountered a couple " Cubase has encountered a serious issue and will close…" I have sent these reports to Steinberg, but doubt anything will be done.
Hi,
Do you get a *.dmp/ips file? If yes, attach it, please.
- Mac: macOS Console utility > Crash Reports (or ~user/Library/Logs/Diagnostic Reports).
- Win: %userprofile%/Documents/Steinberg/Crash Dumps
What kind of MIDI Remote device do you use? Did you write a script by yourself, or did you use 3rd party script, or did you make the device by using the Assistant?
Cubase 15.0.30 64bit2026.6.11 21.19.12.572.dmp (1.0 MB)
Thank you for your response,
I’ve never done this before, but I think this is the right file. I’m thinking this may be an issue with Windows and the new Cubase update. I attached a screenshot of an error I am getting when I try to load a project. I’m not sure what it means. I went into my studio settings and checked "use device “WinRT Midi”, and this will take care of the missing port error that pops-up when I try to load a project, but I think if I do this it causes me to not be able to use Midi Remote in Cubase. If I just ignore the missing port error, and not select “Use Device 'WinRT Midi”, it looks like I am able to map the Midi Remote again with some flakey results. It seems that I am able to use my midi controller if I ignore the missing port error, but I am worried I will have an issue later down the line, or something I haven’t discovered yet.
Sorry, I didn’t answer all of the questions. I am using Roland Fantom 8 EX . I create my own script with the midi learn function.
Just curious if there is any update with this. I’m wondering if there is an issue with Windows Midi.
Hi,
The issue is in MIDI Remote area. The issue has been reported.
Thank you very much!
