Cubase frequently loses contact with MIDI ports. This is very annoying mostly because you have to unload cubase to sort it out. Can Steiny put in a proper MIDI reset funtion so that it ‘re-finds’ lost MIDI ports. I.e. I want to be able to plug in a midi usb port and connect it to cubase without having to shut down cubase and restart it. You can generally do this with audio (although you could do it in 5.1 but not in 5.5.3), so why not with MIDI?
The rightmost button of the three in the top left corner in device setup does for me what you describe. Neither the Reset button under the midi folder (in Device Setup) nor the Reset item in the MIDI menu works when my K61 looses contact with Cubase but this one does.
