midi to cubase vst instruments does not work

Hi,
I am using Cubase artist 9.5. I am currently only able to control Steinberg VST instruments from my yamaha cp using USB, unfortunately when I use the midi from my Tascam 16x8 or from my EMU Midi 2x2 I see midi coming in, but it will not connect to the plugin… The interfaces are recognized, I have set the incoming channel to any, but no sound… and no midi data indication on the plugin…

What is the MIDI In of the Instrument track? Is it All MIDI Inputs?

Are the Tascam and EMU included in the All MIDI Inputs? Check this in Studio > Studio Setup > MIDI Ports.
