Migrate from Finale to Dorico - a flow/player question

Hi Dorico,
I’ve exported 15 movements from finale to dorico.
they are all from the same chorus piece SATB, but when migrating I get lot’s of players at my lefthand side
Ideally I’d like to have 4 (soprano, alto, tenor, bass) how to?
Equally from flow 6 and onwards there’s different brackets (tenor, bass is bracket instead off all - how to correct?)

And if possible, how to correct macro the text alignment

When you import an XML file to an existing Dorico project, you are asked whether you want to merge the incoming instruments with those already in the document; or create new ones.

It looks like you’ve got different players for each flow.

What I would suggest is to create a ‘definitive’ set of SATB Players (using Section Players); then make sure that they are in every Flow and in the Full Score layout. Then you’ll have to copy the music from the other players, into the definitive set.

Then delete all the old ones.

EDIT: However, you’ve also got lots of local time signatures on every staff and bar, so that needs sorting out, too, ideally.

Hi Ben,

Yes, you’re right - I did though tjek the box (merge with existing players where Possible)
but it didn’t seem to have done it’s work -
I suspect it comes from info from the very old finale file

There was so much wrong with this file, I’ve tidied it up. Check that everything is there !

You’ll still need to put the dynamics back to their default positions above the staff; and I’d suggest that if the time sig is changing from bar to bar, that you use 4/4, not C.

Dearest Ben,

So much work, thanks for your help.

all the best

When adding an extra flow before flow one.
All the index numbering are changing - would there be a way to avoid that

No: the number is the flow number.

If you want a different number scheme, set the flow title to “1. My Flow”, and remove the flow number token from the Flow Heading template.

Dear Ben,
I’ve tried to do what I understand you’ve written.
And read the corresponding article:

But I cant get what I want
When removing @flowtitle@ in default page it removes the title on each side beside the start pages at the flows.
I want the numbering to go away / thus being able to name each flow as I feel fit.

Maybe I misunderstand or don’t understand: If you want a different number scheme, set the flow title to “1. My Flow”, and remove the flow number token from the Flow Heading template.

Flow headings are different things from “the header on my default page template, which happens contain a flow name token”.

Flow headings can be edited here:
