Minim automatically splitted into tied Crotchet

Dear all, I am on Dorico Elements Version 5.1.81.2225.
Can someone please help me understand what I am doing wrong … namely why although I have entered a half note, it is shown splitted into quarters.

I have checked in the Notation options and there I made sure that it is everywhere “Notate as single note”, therefore I guess that the experience I am having is perhaps due to the unusual 2/2 ,1.5
How can I fix this ? Perhaps by deleting the notes, selecting force duration and then re-entering the Minim ? Looking forward your advice.

I think you are right.

At the most, select the notes, press O for Force Duration, then 6, then 7.

You could try this. Use common time note grouping.

Thanks but I am on Elements 5.1 and I guess that feature is available only in PRO.

thankyou this made it !

Ah, yes, I saw that now. Force duration, then I guess.

It would help to see more context of the measure shown. We do not know what the preceding measures would show us, particularly their time signature(s).

Thankyou Derrek, the previous measure was in 3/2.

The cause of it is your time signature. For some reason you have created a 2/2,1.5 pickup.

I think this causes Dorico to think that the ‘half bar’ occurs between the first two beats.

Church metrics and layouts are somehow different …

I expect you are correct, since most pickups imply the final notes of a measure.
