Minor bug: Slur missing when changing from divisi to unison

Not sure if this has been reported before, but when changing from divisi to unison slurs get lost when they span across systems in condensed mode.
I’ll attach a project where I noiticed the issue (from last note in bar 10 to bar 11)
You’ve got a friend_kurz.dorico (980.3 KB)

It has indeed been reported before, and was improved on in the Dorico 5 cycle – it might be worth taking a look at what’s been improved since Dorico 4.3 and considering updating at a suitable moment for you? In the short term, you can get a 60-day free trial of Dorico 5.

On a side note, a couple of pointers in case they’re helpful:

  • If you don’t want to show little subbrackets on the Soprano and Alto staves when they’re divisi but condensed onto one staff, go to Layout Options > Brackets and Braces, there’s a default option for this (English, German)

  • Consider reducing the minimum gaps between lyrics and hyphens in Engraving Options > Lyrics > Hyphens, it’ll result in adjacent lyrics sitting closer together and distorting the note spacing less (English, German)

  • You’ve got some inconsistent hyphenation of “North wind” vs “north-wind”

  • Some lyrics aren’t properly aligned with notes or with required extender lines, eg bar 16, Bass; bar 13, A/T; bar 19-2, S/T; bars 1-5, Bass

Wow! Thanks so much for your valuable feedback, highly appreciated!!
I had some trouble finding the right options that you suggested as my UI is in German, but I guess I figured it out.
I missed the special price update to 5 a few days so I’ll wait for another chance.
Regarding the lyrics: I often have trouble when moving notes with lyrics as it screws up the link between notes and lyrics. Has something also been improved in that respect in the 5 version? It is very time consuming to delete and re-enter lyrics after adjusting note positions/lengths.
Thanks again for your very valuable answer!

I’ve edited my reply to include direct links to a couple of relevant pages in the manual, both in English and German (although on our new Help portal, it’s now very easy to switch between languages for the same page using the selectors at the top)

Lyrics when changing note durations: probably not when moving notes, but if you change note durations with Insert mode active (English, German), the lyrics should be shunted right/left by the same amount that you change the corresponding note durations.

If you definitely need to move notes, rather than changing the duration of surrounding notes, make sure you select the lyrics too. Or, if you’re changing the rhythm a lot, cut the lyrics for that whole phrase, then paste them back in when you’ve sorted out your rhythm – it can work out quicker (English, German).
