Missing VST3 Presets on startup

I started with Cubase LE5 which came with my Alesis io2Express MIDI/Audio interface.

LE5 is installed, registered, and activated properly.

In my MySteinberg account there was a voucher offer to upgrade to Cubase LE9.5 for $9.99
I purchased it and downloaded the Steinberg installer software. From there I selected Cubase LE 9.5 full installation and downloaded it.

My eLicenser software says I’m license for Cubase LE, but it doesn’t show a version (5 or 9.5)

I then installed Cubase 9.5 LE. The installation says it’s installing :
Cubase Elements 9.5
Cubase AI 9.5
and Cubase LE 9.5

I selected “Search for Updates” and it saw that there is an update from 9.5 to 9.5.20
I did NOT install to the default directory, I installed to D:\Stienberg\Cubase9.5

AND AFTER ALL THAT, HERE’S THE PROBLEM :
On startup I get the error message:

Some content could not be loaded. Either , licenses are missing, or trial license expired:
VST3 Presets for HS3
VST3 Presets for Anima
VST3 Presets for Studio STrings
VST3 Presets for Hot Brass
VST3 Presets for Eagle
VST3 Presets for Skylab
VST3 Presets for Raven

If I close this dialog box, create a project and try to use HALion Sonic SE I get another error saying VST3 Presets for HS3 could not be loaded.

It sure seems like I’ve done everything properly. Does anyone know why these VST3 Presets are not installed or licensed?

Thank you

Hi,

You have probably installed the Trial content. Uninstall the Trial software, please.

Thank you. In my eLicenser Control Center I see a license for Cubase LE 5 and Cubase LE 9.5. Where would I download the proper version of Cubase LE 9.5 ?

Hi,

Login to your MySteinberg account. In the Download section of MySteinberg you can download it.

In the WIndows control panel I uninstalled every Steinberg app there was.

When I log into My Steinberg I get this screen
I don’t see a download section.

This is a picture of the My Steinberg page

This is a photo of my eLicenser with the license number blurred out It shows a license for Cubase 9.5

I ended up going back to my original email which confirmed my purchase. That email had a download link. My “My Steinberg” account does not.

The download link in the email had me download the Download assistant again. From there I downloaded Cubase LE 9.5 Full.

I did a full installation and when I started the program I still get these warning messages:

Some content could not be loaded. Either , licenses are missing, or trial license expired:
VST3 Presets for HS3
VST3 Presets for Anima
VST3 Presets for Studio STrings
VST3 Presets for Hot Brass
VST3 Presets for Eagle
VST3 Presets for Skylab
VST3 Presets for Raven

Note, I also went to the Hub/Register Now . . . Menu choice and the web page I was directed to correctly saw my elicense number and verified my registration.

Hi,

This content is just a Trial you installed. You would need a dedicated licence to be able to use it.

Uninstall the content.

Hi GregBr,

Those missing presets are part of Halion Sonic 3 which is a separate paid vst instrument. Those presets are not included with Cubase.

Did you install any trials?

When you get the error message do you get an option to remove or ignore those presets?

Usint the control panel uninstaller I uninstalled every app which started with “Steinberg”. There is no app in my control panel uninstall which says Halion Sonic 3. Then, after installing the Cubase LE 9.5 again, I do see these entries in the control panel uninstall list:

Steinberg HALion Library Manater
Steinberg HALion Sonic SE Component
Steinberg HALion Sonic SE Content for Cubase LE Al Elements

I don’t think these are teh files related to the errors I’m seeing.

If I open the HALion Library Manager I can see those plugins with the errors under the “Managed” tab. When I explored further it looks like there were some rogue files under c:\ProgramData\ (which is a hidden directory) If I did accidentally install that at some point in the past, the uninstall didn’t remove them.

I uninstalled Cubase again, deleted the C:\ProgramData\Steinberg directory entirely, and reinstalled.

Now when I start Cubase it told me that those files could not be found and I had a choice to remove them. So even though I deleted the Program Data/Steinberg directory it seems the Cubase still thought there should be files there. After selecting “Remove” for all of them I can now restart Cubase and start it without errors.

At this point it looks like the software is loading without errors. I’ll leave this description here in case it’s useful to others with the same problem.
