Opened up a current project and got a message that Monologue was missing yet nothing had changed from the previous session’s work. The VSTi appears to be missing from the system entirely or at least from all projects. What would cause this and how to solve?

If the VSTi is a VST2 one, then close Cubase and try deleting the VST2xBlacklist.xml file and re-starting, that will re-scan the plugins, see if it helps. No idea why some plugins get blacklisted…
File is in
C:\Users[username]\AppData\Roaming\Steinberg\Cubase 6
If you’re on 7… under a similar location under documents and settings (but not appdata/roaming) on XP.
