Hello everyone.
To operate my Daslight 3 (DVC3) and Daslight 4 (DVC 4) lighting software with tempo control in VSTL2pro, I need a function that can execute Midi events in VSTL2pro at every start, stop, and ideally also at song load. Background:
VSTL2pro sends the timecode information for each song to Daslight4. This works perfectly. When the song ends, my lighting system continues to run with the last sent tempo information. Example: 106 Bpm The software “Daslight4” does not notice when VSTL2pro is stopped. So, at the end of a song, I have to send a tempo reset to Daslight4.
In the software I used previously, I solved the problem by having an option:
With this, I can play a small midi file at fast tempo (>120 Bpm) during transport actions, which performs a tempo reset in Daslight4.
BTW: With “Play at every play,” I also switch my reverb device bypass OFF and with “Play at every stop,” my reverb device bypass ON. This ensures that the reverb is really OFF during an announcement.
Resume:
I know that I can also set such a “reset” in a midi track in VST Live 2 pro. However, it is rather unsuitable for testing lighting settings and during a band rehearsal.
Maybe my suggestion fits into the concept of the VST Live2 pro developers. I would certainly appreciate it.
Maybe someone from the forum knows a solution that I don’t see at the moment.

Hello fkalmus,
thanks for the quick reply.
In principle, yes,
If I knew how I could get VSTL2pro to send a midi event of my choice when I click on the stop button, or to play a midi track.
Another idea would be to create a layer that could be triggered on stop.
Would something like this work?
Herbert
Why not record the DMX data into a VSTL track?
That said, a “play to here” option at song load would solve a multitude of setup issues, or maybe expand the SysEx option (which is already played at song load) to include standard MIDI. @spork?
@CliveJ
Thank you very much for your reply.
Daslight4 (DVC4 Gold) is an external solution.
Individual scenes can be controlled via mid note number.
The Daslight4 cannot be integrated directly into VSTL2pro via DMX driver. I don’t know where and how I could record DMX data.
Sorry…
As described above, I am testing the solution from FKALMUS.
We’ll know more tomorrow.
Herbert
@Herbert_Schmitt - no problem. I used to use dot2 on a different computer and sent it timecode which worked but I didn’t want to take a 2nd PC out. We just played the DMX out to VSTL over the network using ArtNet which I’m pretty sure DasLight can do. But whatever works for you
I tried to implement your suggestion. Creating a MIDI track with the required MIDI notes was no problem. Assigning MIDI output and input was also no problem.
I couldn’t get the “Stop” button in the VSTL2pro transport bar to output a MIDI note or controller value. Of course, I also referred to the help documentation, but it could use an update. So many things have been added to VST Live 2 pro in the meantime.
I also looked into your solution. You are right. Daslight4 can output its DMX data to an Art-Net interface. As a temporary solution, I am considering purchasing an Art-Net interface to possibly follow your workflow. Can you recommend a model?
Otherwise, I stick to my demand that it would make sense if the Stop button, Start button, possibly also the Record button, as well as Song load, had the ability to output multiple MIDI commands, Sysex data, before they follow their function control in VSTL2pro.
Ideally, this should be adjustable in the options settings.
@Herbert_Schmitt I use a Chauvet DMX-AN2. Would suggest you shop around as the prices can vary dramatically between stores.
Other ArtNet devices are available …
@Fkalmus
I need with one keystroke. (i.e. at stop) four different note values. on different midi channels and different ports
Note “F0” = Rest Daslight4 tempo to 0 (see illustration above)
Note “G#-2”= Is required to call up the pause scene
Note “C0” = Yamaha 01V96i effect off
Note “D0” = Yamaha Genos2 Reverb Vocal Reverb OFF
Or (SysEx)
That is correct. Like you and others, I am enthusiastic about the Vstl2pro system.
That’s why I’ve now decided to change my system.
I am practicing daily with VSTL2<pro to learn and understand it.
< Are “song change messages” clear on how to do that?>
I think so… Right now I’m working on converting my songs to VSTL2pro. But don’t start 5 things at once.
One song at a time. With everything Vstl2pro has to offer.
