Great band. One of my bands does this one! I think the -10db mix somehow loses the dynamics of the song, which are important. I’m not sure why, but I think a -10db mix should be possible. That’s not an unreasonable goal. What are you using for mastering?
I recently bought a series of three Waves plugins including AbbeyRoad TG Mastering Chain. I only used this one for the master. This is the first time I used a single plugin to perform this task. Maybe it wasn’t the best choice to make or I didn’t know how to adjust the various modules of the latter.
However, a few days have passed since then and when I listened to the master again I realized that the mix contained a little too much reverb, which doesn’t help to separate the various parts.
Anyway, thanks for the comment and I will revisit the mix and try to have a master close to this objective of -10 db while having the least loss of dynamics possible.
