OK, maybe I am stupid and blind and there is some new setting that I fail to find, but I cannot navigate the C14 mix console with the keyboard anymore.
The only thing that works is cursor-left/right for changing tracks. Everything else, like using cursor-up/down for top-down navigation through insert slots etc, using the tab key to switch between different zones or using alt-up/down to change values on active fields: worked in C12, doesn’t work anymore in C14.
Is it just me or is this another “feature” of the new “improved” mix console??
Not a fan either, though since getting deeper into midi remote I don’t use the mix console anymore.
However, and more generally, watching misses here and there when it comes to keyboard navigation, I think that Steinberg should really look into it. Keyboard is not to be abandoned any time soon, macros/advanced sequences, even lighter concepts as properly marking a cell in focus to type in, rely heavily on its behavior. And this is (was? I really want to stay positive and I will since it’s just my type) a very strong plus of Cubase. It’s not just about many users being happy “clickers”. Everyone now and then needs even occasionally the keyboard.
No keys’ consumes under the hood, no faulty tab indexing, no focus issues. These are basic(s).
Uh, if it is really true that it is not just some oversight from me, I am completely baffled. Why on earth would Steinberg rework the mix console when a) no one really asked for that (at least not what I ever seen here, and there are feature requests about everything) and then b) botch up the design, make it more unreadable with smaller fonts and worse contrast, and then even remove functionality? And that before even the last GUI remnants of Cubase SX are taken care of, like the settings window?
