Mix Console Snapshot Should Include Mute Status

Have you had experience using similar features in other DAWs? If so, what differences have you observed?

studio one has a full mix snapshot recall including automation , i don’t use it, but man they have so many ā€œusefulā€ features and workflow Cubase lacks :expressionless:

+1…
Mute states and solo states to be included in Mix snapshots. Please.

+1 for incl. MUTE in MixSnapshots please  (C13pro)

Five year anniversary for this thread. Still not fixed in C13.

This is a perfect example of why Steinberg needs to do a UX research on this ā€œfeatureā€.

  • For example, how many people actually use this feature? How many don’t use it due to it’s limitations?
  • If Steinberg is intent on keeping this feature limited, then is it worth maintaining? If few people use it, should they remove the feature entirely?
  • Or better yet, why not improve it?

I literally do not use this feature due to it’s limitations. I just can’t use it at all.

I can’t use it because as I’ve found, it crashes large projects.

So, when I want my project to crash I load up a snapshot. Works great.

You’d think after five years this feature would have finally reached the top of that list.

@zooterman That’s interesting - how large is large, and how does the crash manifest itself?

I’ve just started using snapshots on a 50-ish track project. I have about 6 snapshots, and every so often playback stops for 5 seconds or so and then restarts… and then after about four repeats of that, it doesn’t restart, and Cubase closes itself. Is that similar?

I’d put it down to being lazy and using a generic driver with bluetooth earbuds, but maybe I’m looking in the wrong direction…

Is it possible to use Cue Mixes as a workaround for not being able to recall Mute status? I’m only just dipping my toe into Control Room functionality, sorry if that’s a ridiculous question.

Large like 100+ tracks.

The nature of the crash is it occurs immediately as I try to load a snapshot.

Snapshots are completely unusable for me.

That ain’t large! Some guys here talk about 800+ tracks (gawd 'elp us!).

I’ve had a play around with using cue sends for this and it’s clunky but it seems to work… You can enable or disable the send to a cue mix the same way you would unmute or mute, and the cue send is saved with the snapshot.

Keep the cue mix selected and switch between the snapshots… It’s not particularly fast but it seems to work.

Thoughts…?

Yes, that workaround is awkward.

Agreed - and to clarify my position, I voted for the feature request on this thread, this is by no means ideal.

I’m pretty new to control room though so was wondering if there were any gotchas or even any improvements that more experienced users could suggest… I hadn’t seen it suggested elsewhere so didn’t know whether there were reasons not to go that route (other than clunkiness).

It’s sad to have to ask this question once again, but do snapshots include track mutes in Cubase 14?

Same question here

6 and a half years later and 5 versions of Cubase and mix console snapshots still don’t include mute status? What possible reason could there be for crippling such a potentially useful feature?
