Mixing inserts into track

Hi all,

I have Cubase 5 and would basically like to mix the effect of an insert gradually into a particular track, so for example I’d like to apply an EQ insert with high pass EQ to say a 16 beat event and I want no EQ applied to start and a gradual increase to 100% EQ by 16th beat.
What’s the easiest way to do this and are there multiple ways with different benefits?

Once you add a VST to a track you can use the automation lanes to automate the parameters you want.
