I am having problems setting up Mixkey so that I can take Cubase’s audio over to record in OBS. When I set the ASIO driver to my RME Fireface UCX, Cubase doesn’t appear in the Soundpool under Audio Applications. When I choose the Steinberg Built-In Asio driver, the same thing. I don’t see Cubse under Audio Applications.
This is a known issue/limitation of the current implementation.
Cubase doesn’t appear in the list if the ASIO driver in the Studio > Studio Setup > Audio System is set to No Driver.
Please do the following:
Quit MixKey.
Studio > Studio Setup > Audio System, select any ASIO Driver (better to select another ASIO driver, but the same one you are going to use in MixKey as the Heartbeat; You can use, for example, the Steinberg Built-In ASIO).
Start MixKey.
→ Now, you should see Cubase in the list of Audio Applications.
Btw, in the upcoming MixKey release, there will be a solution for the 2nd step, you will be able to set the Internal ASIO Heartbeat in MixKey.
Thanks for your reply. I did what you suggested and set the Studio / Studio Setup / Audio System to Steinberg Built-In Asio: As you might expect, that resulted in the fact, that I couldn’t open and listen to the Cubase projects, because there were missing audio connections. However, Cubase now appeared in the list of audio apllications.
Yet, this is by no means a way in which I could seriously work with Mixkey. I am a little puzzled, becuase Cubase Pro 15 and Mixkey are both Steinberg Products and I was quite positive that there should not be any problems with getting both to work just fine.
I guess I will have to wait for future updates.
BTW: When Cubase and Mixkey were both set to STeinberg Built-In Asio driver, and I added Cubase from the applications list as a channel in Mixkey, there was no signal being detected by Mixkey when I played a Cubase project.
