Hi, Shaper is very good modulator but I think it can be boosted if the initial value of the envelope could be read in real time from a MIDI controller to which is assigned (e.g., a CC or a track parameter). i.e. the shape starts relatively to the current value of the cc it is modulating. If it could adapts the length of the shape from the current note lenght by which is triggered would be fantastic!
Anyone here could use the modscripter to replicate the shaper modulator adding this function? A feature request?
That would not be possible with midi live input, would it? You could only trigger the Shaper after you release a midi key.
Somebody suggested to let Shaper’s shape run through exactly once when it gets triggered by a NoteOn message. I honestly think that is the way to go. It can be done by setting the Shaper to One Shot mode and switching the Shaper from Note to Freq(uency).
ok, but could receive midi data from track/region to set one of his parameter. Scenario: instrument track - shaper modulates dynamics parameter on orchestral library ( you can assign it to that parameter directly on the plugin window) but I want that it modulated over the existing dynamics of the track which is controlled by cc1 in the region. So if the destination parameters (dial) could be controlled by incoming cc1 would be great.
yes this is the best way now. I’m referring to recorded midi instruments/midi track, not live. But if you wanted that the modulationto be “stretched” according to the lenght of the note it would be a nice thing that shaper read the value of the note lenght and conform his relative lenght parameters, note by note.
This would turn the modulators into a “playback only” tool, not usable for live input. This is currently no possible and my guess is Steinberg will not program that in the future.
There could be a possibility to use velocity of the note to adjust the frequency parameter of Shaper.
That would require a script for ModScripter (convert velocity to VST modulation, possibly by creating a table) and that ModScripter to be connected to the Frequency parameter of the Shaper.
