Monitor outs clipping interface on export, playback is fine though

A strange occurence started happening earlier this evening.

Started to export a rough mix and my interface started clipping.

I’m on Win11 Pro, Cubase 15 Pro 1.0.5.30, RME UFX3.

I have Main control room outs on 1&2, mono monitor on 3, ‘grot box’ on 7&8.

Playback is fine and as expected, when i export in real time, earlier this evening, the playback signal is incredibly hot and clips my interface on all monitor outputs. Resultant file appears to be ok though.

This seems to have just appeared, have checked all connections and can’t find a conflict.

Any ideas?

Hi, @matjones

I guess that you have double checked all the different levels involved, so just in case… any Control Room insert that could be in the way ?

Hi,
can you check if the Listen function in Control Room is enabled and the level doesn’t exceed 0 dB?

Hey and thanks for the reply!

I did go through CR last night to check and, no i’ve not loaded any plugs into it. It also happens with a fresh project too.

@Reco29 I will double check this again today as i was using the Listen function yesterday and think i have possibly inadvertently clicked on something whilst having a muscle spasm… i get them frequently unfortunately and, odd things like this can be the result.

I’ll double check in a coupe of hours and post back…

Many thanks again.

EDIT:

Spot on with The Listen Function, i was listening to a reverb tail in isolation yesterday and had boosted it, turned the function off before resetting it and had forgotten about it.

All good again now, many thanks again!
