Montage M plugin should be included in Cubase Pro

Who agrees? This could be massive differentiator

Hi,

Why?

Majority of the users don’t own Yamaha Montage. We don’t need a plug-in to communicate with the hardware we don’t own. Every user, who has Montage, can download and use it.

Uh it’s a standalone virtual instrument now! :joy::joy::joy:

Montage is the easy winner to my ears. It has depth and richness that Halion does not have.

Are you sure?

I grant you the fact that each sound taken individually in a soloist context, to my ear, seems more organic, you have to be a good instrumentalist to render the instrument well.

To say that the sounds of HALion are not at all comparable or that they do not hold up, I believe that would be in bad faith. Even more true, in the context of a Band or orchestral, where IMO, unless there is an exclusive sound of each, it would be enormously difficult to say who is who or who is doing what…

I do not deny the very high quality of the Montage as an instrument, but there are plenty of other very good products on the market and what is most important is that everyone can find what they want.

Yes. It is also a totally standalone instrument.

No “bad faith” here. Halion sound is inferior to Montage. Sounds thin and digital in comparison

OK!

You say that a hardware independent VST version will be available soon or may already be available. If I understand correctly a replica of Hardware in the form of VSTi. It’s still interesting.

Now why should it be included with Cubase Pro? Why would Yamaha give Steinberg such a gift? That doesn’t really make sense, do you think? A product better than HALion 7 which is not given in its full version, according to you should be supplied free with Cubase!!!

@m203, every good product has a price and I don’t believe Yamaha is giving charity to anyone.

I’ve got some News for You,

“You say that a hardware independent VST version will be available soon or may already be available. If I understand correctly a replica of Hardware in the form of VSTi. It’s still interesting.”

Yes.

“Now why should it be included with Cubase Pro? Why would Yamaha give Steinberg such a gift? That doesn’t really make sense, do you think? A product better than HALion 7 which is not given in its full version, according to you should be supplied free with Cubase!!!”

Are you aware that Yamaha owns Steinberg? it is the same company. Yamaha would not have to “give” Steinberg, anything, because Yamaha is Steinberg :grinning:

“@m203, every good product has a price and I don’t believe Yamaha is giving charity to anyone.”

Yamaha would not be giving charity to anyone. All they would do is simply add one of their own products to one of their own products. And it would be a very good add because as it stands the default virtual instruments in Cubase kind of suck. Wouldn’t you agree?

what do you mean you have some news for me? I’m the one that shared this news in this thread lol.

the ESP plugin VST3 is for Montage M series keyboards users only at the moment this might change, its just out, but its not working for me
i have access via a code provided with my montage m6
as stated above Yamaha owns Steinberg so its only downloadable via Steinberg download assist
i have activated it downloaded it t does not show up in Cubase 13 to use also it is scanned by cakewalk next, traction waveform and CWBL, but again does not show up to use, cakewalk next backlisted it as a non working VST,
i put in a service request not heard back yet

If you have read the entire Synth Anatomy short story. In the “First Impression” paragraph, it says this:

“I think it’s an exciting idea to bring the Montage M into the DAW as a plugin. We have seen these steps with other products in the last few years as well: the MiniFreak or the digital Korg synthesizers modwave, wavestate, and opsix. Something is certain: at a max of $4499 it is one of the most expensive plugins ever made, and you can buy it.”

I have a good musician friend who purchased the latest version of the Montage keyboard just before the Christmas Holidays. He sold the previous version of this keyboard at a good price (a few thousand dollars) in order to have the very latest version at a cost of 4403.90 USD + Taxes (15% in my country) (convert it in CAD) which includes this famous keyboard which seems to react in the same way as a ROLI keyboard or something like that, but with real piano keys. We agreed to meet in February. I can’t wait to see the beast and also this famous VST, because it is free for the owner of the keyboard, so he has probably already downloaded it.

We’ll talk about it again in a few weeks. I will give you my real impression of the Montage thing.

i have the montage m6 i had one of the first in the UK this was ÂŁ3200 not cheap its a good synth, not totally blown away by it, the Akai MPC key 61 is just as good in a different way as they are different keyboards different characters, but the MPC61 is half the price but just as good, if the ESP VST becomes available to purchase without the hardware its not going to be cheap either

Sorry to hijack the thread (my answer by the way is no, we cannot have for free a vst targeting owners of a 4,000$ synth). but I’m curious to know about the keybed of the MPC Key. I did try the Montage M, I find it great, but yeah I do like the MPC Key as a concept, so if it has a decent keybed synth-action it can be my next standalone unit. To not mention I saw an upcoming MPC 37, which I somehow think would be ideal for writing on the go.

i sold my MPC key 61 to a friend of mine who has a you tube channel he loves it
my Montage6 the keybed is good but the key 61 is good just as good,
so if you get chance to pick up a second had MPC key 61 go for it, it s really good
one of the best if not the best synths i have owned and i have had a few
montage overpriced, but the montage m8 is on another level on the keybed
but at a massive price
