Mordents, Turns, and other stuff not playing…

Why do moderate and turns and other things are not playing when I ass them to my score?
Can the developers of dorico add a new feature that allow those things to play when added to a score?

Ornaments do not playback in Dorico.
You can add your own interpretation of any ornament by adding an extra staff, notating the ornament and then hiding it.

…and many others…

Please note the hidden staff with sounding notes and visible notes with suppressed playback.

Thanks for the information. Now I can see how much I don’t know about dorico.

I’m really surprised that no thought has been given to implementing this sign.

That assumption is doing a good bit of heavy lifting.

@Ehsan: as much as I would love to have all of those wonderful ornaments automatically playable, it is probably a daunting task to say the least. I’ve inquired about the same and the responses that I recall the most were that ornaments are probably used only by a small subset of Dorico users and that there are dozens of possibilities for various ornaments. (I may be incorrect but the currently operating trill and options are using the vibrato and vibrato depth MIDI change controllers so the implementation is easier. There are no MIDI controllers, of which I am aware, that play various ornaments.)

I personally thing that adding mordents, inverted mordents and turns would probably suffice for the majority of need in this regard. At present, I write these notes out verbose on the staff for Playback and then have a second copy of final work where I change the written out ornaments into the ornament symbols over the appropriate notes.

Although it could get a bit messy, another alternative is to have separate staves for each instrument that plays the ornament(s) with it written out. The original staff would have the note marked as Suppress Playback. Then use a specific layout for print…

The usual approach is to do Staff > Add Staff Above and add the written-out ornament there. Then just select the “+1 Staff” signpost and delete it (or do Staff > Remove Staff, which leaves a signpost showing where the staff was). Notes in removed staves still play back, but of course they don’t print. And then suppress playback on the actual notes in the main staff.

Thanks for correcting my faulty memory. I don’t use that process so I appreciate your kind assistance.
