Now we only have 16 colors, which they look very basic, I wish the color could be more vibrant and customizable.
You can already use any (set of) color(s) you want. Here’s more info on that Applying colors in the Project window.
On the Toolbar’s Color Menu dropdown list look at the very last item at the bottom of the list. The answer to your request lies there.
