I dreamed about this for years - and eventually built it myself.
A truly unique controller was recently released: the MIDISHIP-M, a 4-fader motorized MIDI/HUI controller. In HUI mode, it behaves like any other motorized controller: it can control audio track automation, but not MIDI controller data.
However, when I saw this device, I realized that if I could build a software bridge between HUI and MIDI and make it work with Cubase instrument tracks, it could become one of the best controller solutions ever created for composers.
So I used ChatGPT 5.6 to create a plugin. It acts as a bridge: you create an instrument track with the plugin, load your VST instrument inside it, and the bridge intercepts all MIDI data traveling to and from the instrument track, routing it between the instrument and the HUI controller in real time.
It consists of three parts: a VST3 plugin, a MIDI Remote script, and loopMIDI - a free virtual MIDI port application.
It was designed and refined specifically for the MIDISHIP-M, but it should also work well with other motorized HUI controllers that feature touch-sensitive faders.

I had a lot of fun vibe coding it and it is going to be available for free. You can check beta version for PC here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1N6CiIHqLZJ-afmTuzupHo6y4NLUjtE08/view?usp=drive_link
Mac version will be available soon.
