Move pedal retake point

Hi all

I can adjust the placement of a retake-pedal marking in Engrave mode but I can’t move it in Write mode to adjust where it takes effect. I note also that MIDI c.c. 64 (which that the marking is adjusting in playback) is not reflected in the Key Editor, so I can’t edit it there.

What I’m trying to do is hear the effect of the retake in slightly different places without having to delete/undo then re-enter.

Any suggestions?

Damian

Draw it in using the MIDI CC editor until you know where you want the marking to go?

Most precise, yes, but I’d have to draw in 4 cc points for a pedal with a retake, so that would take longer.

It’s obviously not a huge deal and it only becomes annoying when I have to do a lot of these, but it’s frustrating that I can so easily drag the pedal-retake to where it looks right, but not at all to where it actually takes effect from.

That’s a fundamental aspect of the division between rhythmic and graphical positions.

Once you’ve drawn one retake in points, you can select them all, move them, copy/paste them etc.

Yes, but I can adjust both the rhythmic and graphical position of the start and end points of the pedal mark in Write mode - which is great. With the pedal retake I can’t adjust the rhythmic position at all, and can only adjust the graphical position in Engrave mode - which is not great.

I’d tag this as a low-priority feature request.

thanks.

You can do this in Write, but you need to remove a retake and add a retake somewhere else. It is all available from the right-click>pedal lines… context menu. Select a note (or move the caret to where you want the change) and make a change.

Hi I know that - that was the point of the post - It would be quicker if I could just drag it.

Hi @Damian_leGassick,

not exactly what you want, but you could also select the note with retake, split the Ped. line, and you can drag the end of previous and start of following line, to other places, and when you find what you like, merge them again.

Edit:
(But these are more clicks than the suggestion of @Janus, for which actions you can create shortcuts, so it would be really fast) :

Actually that’s good for me, merge them rather than divide them. Thanks.

@Damian_leGassick , glad it helped.

(I added also a video in my previous post, using Janus suggestion in combination. with shortcuts)
