Movie audio through busses?

Hi folks. I’m a recent migrant to Cubase after 25+ years of working in Digital Performer. I’ve run into a thing I was doing in DP that I haven’t been able to figure out if it’s possible in Cubase. Probably an obvious solution, but I haven’t found it yet, so I thought I’d ask.

In DP, I could import a movie file and run the embedded audio out a stereo bus (in my case called “Stereo Source”) without importing the audio, and then having mono auxes routed from there to separate my dialogue and temp onto separate tracks. The big benefit of this was that it doesn’t make new audio files, taking up tons of drive space when doing it for 50+ cues in a movie.

Is there a way to do this in Cubase, or if not, can you import a video file and not have it make a copy of the audio file for each new project?

Thanks!
