Moving a bar from page 3 to 2

Removing rests is graphical, so it’s better to put the notes in the same voice following the link in my earlier reply – here it is again (Dorico 4 link)

Thanks you once more, @Lillie_Harris !!! I guess your suggestion is the best option I have left. So, I´ll go for that. I have read your post only after I ´ve done my latest. Anyway, I´ll give it another go with your advice!!!

This is how it looks. Way better, but still a bit crammed. Is it possible to now shift the second, lower system back to the next page? I am advised to make the score a legible as possible - with plenty of space - hence the idea of having only one system per page.

Yes, your first port of call could be, for example, going into Layout Options > Vertical Spacing and increasing the minimum inter-staff gap a bit, so Dorico knows on its own that 2 systems won’t fit in one page.

Or, you could set a fixed casting off for 1 system per frame.

However, in terms of legibility, having one system per page that only contains 7 staves might feel a bit stretched vertically. Perhaps get some other opinions, but the setup I recommended originally (6mm staff, c 3 bars per system, two systems per page) is perfectly clear and comfortably spaced.

Thanks, @Lillie_Harris I was already on my way to try out increasing the minimum inter-staff gap. It´s now at 17 (!) spaces. Some pages have two systems, still, but most pages have just one. I´ll go for that, anyway. It´s taken me long enough! And withput the help of you guys, I would be mental by now. More so than ever. You guys are GOLD!!! Thank you. I hope this is sloved now. If not, expect me back :sunglasses:

Are you definitely changing the “Staff to staff” gap, not the “Inter-system gap”? Sorry, I should have double-checked its actual name – I’m referring to the option that sets the distance between individual staves within a system, top left on the Vertical Spacing page.

OMG!!! And I just saw the function in Engrave mode “move bar to previous system”… Argh, that is easy! God bless Dorico 4!

Yes, the staff to staff gap, the one on the very left upper corner in layout options. The result is I have only one page left with two systems. Which may now be irritating because it´s now irregular.

Yes, thanks, I´ve known that - left page to right page, but not right to left.

Is there a function that automatically spreads the system over the page, without me having to drag the staves around?

That was in response to your comment above

You can insert a frame break at the start of the 2nd system on that page to force it onto a new page.

Yes – vertical justification – I’ve mentioned it a few times in your thread

Ok ok, give me a few more years, and then I eventually might get it, uhm.

Thanks @Derrek ! Luckily, I found a solution now that pacifies me. The project is now done with and I submit it tomorrow. @Lillie_Harris ´s advice helped me a lot, also, all the other advice I got! But I will definitely keep that in mind for future projects.
