Does anyone know if theres a key shortcut for this simple action:
I have 1 midi part, i cut out a section i dont want, i now have two midi parts and want to join them together as quickly/efficiently as possible.
I dont want to glue them, i just want them side by side.
Surely theres a button???

If you mean something like the Audio Part from Audio Events, unfortunately this is not possible.
Would the Group help?
Use the Range Tool, drag it across the empty area, then go to Edit → Range → Delete Time, which is assigned to Shift+Backspace for me by default.
Not a button but a functionality: Switch the Snap Type of the project to “Shuffle” and then move one of the parts a bit towards the other. It will magnetically snap at the part border.
