Hi
Short version:
while playing a loop of one bar, Is it possible to move notes and hear the new note without having to stop and restart playback?
Long version:
I’m doing a four part harmony course and am using Dorico to practice with. The course starts very simple, the first lesson is about perfect cadences using 3 part harmony and wants me to go away and try various options going from G to C.
OK, I can fill in a few bars with different options then play them back (which is what I’ve had to do) but it would be nice instead to have one or two bars playing on a loop where I simply move around one or more notes.
For example going from G to C, let’s presume the G is sorted.
For the C, in the bass clef I’m given the C below middle C, in the treble clef I’m given just the C above middle C
I now have to experiment adding either the E or G to the treble clef and also try different positions for all notes, to hear which sounds best etc.
What I want to do is add the G to the treble clef below the already present C. Then have that bar playing back looping, while it’s playing, I move the G down to the E and hear how that sounds, then maybe moving it to a higher E or G, maybe move the C down to middle C etc. All while playing back the loop.
Sadly, while I can happily move them around while it’s looping, it still only plays back the original notes unless I stop and restart playback.
If I moved say the G to the E, loop after loop it still only plays the G.
If I moved say the G to the E then stop and restart playing the loop, it correctly plays the E, but this means stopping and restarting every time I move a note which is not what I want.
Is this possible please?
Thanks
