It used to be so simple. You’d go to “Key Commands,” type in “cursor,” and instantly find options like “move to the right,” “+1 bar,” or “+1 beat.” You could easily choose whatever you wanted, and that was it—simple. But then, some genius you hired decided to complicate things unnecessarily. One day, they must have thought, “Hmm, how can we make this insanely complicated and limit it to only two options? Oh, I know! We’ll only allow them to go one bar or one frame backward, or simply ‘nudge to the left.’ Once they choose ‘nudge to the left,’ they’ll have to go through 13 other steps just to select how far back the cursor should move.”
And that’s how they made your entire DAW worthy of uninstalling and switching to something else. Genius move.
@Makalo Your complaint doesn’t take into consideration the multiple possibilities that are available dependent on what time format is selected in the ruler . Not everyone is going to be working with bars and beats.
TBH I don’t remember how it used to be… but you could try adding a key command to ‘Edit>Select Next Grid Type’ to quickly scroll through the grid type options. Then use the default key commands Ctrl+ + and Ctrl+ - as usual to move the cursor back and forth by the chosen amount.
If you must have dedicated commands for moving the cursor forward and back by one bar or moving the cursor forward and back by one beat then it would be possible / easy to make four quick macros to do this.
