I’m moving to a new PC in a few weeks. Will I need to remove/deactivate my Steinberg software licenses (Cubase14-Pro and other) from the old computer before I wipe it and recycle?
Is there a Steinberg document detailing what needs to be done?
With the new eLicensing system it’s no longer as simple as moving a USB dongle from one system to another.
On the old machine use the Steinberg Activation Manager to deactivate all your software.
One the new machine, use the SAM to activate all your software (sign in first, of course!).
That’s it.
While it sounded simple enough, your suggestion made me aware that the Steinberg “eLicenser-based licensing service will be closing down early in 2025” and I’m now trying to understand what I’m supposed to do.
I went to the Activation manager and there’s only one app listed (Cubase Pro 14)
There’s an option to Deactivate licenses on unavailable computers which would be the simplest solution as I’ll be re-installing and activating in a week or 2 and the eLicenser-based licensing service will still be working.
On that same products page there’s the option to Register eLicenser → Register eLicenser / software where I’ll be prompted to enter the eLicenser number for each software.
Is that what I’m supposed to do to get the software off the eLicenser-based licensing service and have it integrated into the Activation manager ???
I found a few pages on the Steinberg support site with instructions that are not clear (to me).
Thanks again,
Russell
PS: I’ll try the Register eLicenser / software route to see if it removes them from the Dongle control and onto the computer.
