PG, this might be one for you(!)
Essentially - we would like to output some metadata about the encoder and version used in encoding aac (mp4/m4a) files from wav files, with Wavelab Pro (we’re using v10).
Looking at the metadata configuration window when saving as an mp4, there is an ID3v2 Auto Variable code (@Id3v2_TSSE@, “software and settings used for encoding”), but it does not output any values, regardless of the field it is used in. I can see this option says “(source audio file)”, so perhaps that means the metadata has to already be present in the source audio file in order to work? If yes, we’re encoding from wavs, and we don’t have any ID3v2 metadata in them (and the metadata would not be applicable to the wavs).
The @wavelabandversion@ variable code outputs the name and version of Wavelab perfectly in the mp4 files, but really we are hoping for the encoder (e.g. Frauenhofer) and its version number.
