Multi bar rests-split, text

There are three multi bar rests. When splitting them like 1/2, only text should appear in the first one instead of a cue note. How should I set this up? If I enter the text as staff text, the multi bar rest keeps appearing as three.

Two approaches:

  1. In Engrave mode, select the barline at the end of the first bar (after turning off multi-bar rests) and enable Engrave > Split Multi-bar Rest;
  2. In Write mode, enter the text at the start of the multi-bar rest and then nudge it to the right with alt/opt + right arrow (this will move its attachment off the start of the first beat) - you might want to move it back to the left a little in Engrave mode.
