End of 2023. Is this feature available in Cubase 13 pro now?
Nope. Weāre still living in 1989.
Multi mono is basically multiple instances of the same. As a workaround try repinning copies of mono stereo setsā¦just curious as to which ext. plug-in you have in mind as many support 7.1 to 7.1.2 natively.
Yes. Although that work-around is too time-consuming.
As for specific plug-ins, there are too many cases where I would love to have multi-mono inserted.
For example, a lot of times I want to add an EQ or a compressor to the master bus or sub-mix bus to give it some final touch. Say, Pultec, Massive Passive, Variable-Mu, or some tape emulation, etcā¦ Most of which donāt come with multi-channel options.
+1 : really need this
This request is older than the Alps. ā¦ I think it was one of the first discussions in the original Nuendo forum around the year 2000.
As you dig deeper in this, Iām not sure multi-mono plugins are the answer. I mean in a pinch theyāre a good work around, and better than nothing.
Even in ProTools if you put the Dyn3 Compressor on a 7.1.4 track, you have to pick between linked controls, or individual controls and then you have to click through each of 12 settings, you can never see it all at once. And to get a side chain that considers either all channels or a group of channels, you need to mix the sidechain on a separate bus and then send it over.
On an EQ you donāt have a side-chain issue, but you still canāt see the FFT as a combination.
For a compressor you might better served with a plugin designed for this purpose. It may not be your favorite compressor, but at least it works properly.
Thatās a top-notch compressor by the way.
Indeed. Perfectly suited for this type of work.
I discovered it via one of Justin Grayās excellent explorations.
Vienna Suite Pro is a little-known treasure trove of fully surround- and 3D-capable plug-ins:
Iāve been using it for a long time in 7.1.4. I donāt understand why this excellent, reasonably priced suite is so little known.
Thanks for pointing me towards VSL! I was desperately looking for a multichannel multiband compressor, as the Nuendo one does not offer the possibility of NOT having Autogain on (which makes it useless to me in Post).
Check out AudioGridder. Itās a free alternative and recalls the settings in the Nuendo project file so you donāt have to open 2 project files like with VSL.
Yes but does it allow to build a āvirtualā 5.1 or more plugin if the original plugin is not mapped to do that (ie. only mono or stereo configurations)?
Yes! The developer implemented that feature upon my request. I found it better working than VSL (used both in the past). Iāve even fully switched to ProTools because I still prefer native integration, but AudioGridder is the best workaround available.
Really? Does AudioGridder indeed take care for side-chain dependencies and gradual links?
+1 -Multi-mono is needed for sure.
interesting iām going to try this out one of these days, thanks for sharing
We really need this feature, at least allow us to link a series of plugins together in one channel that will respond to write automation. That may we can at least have multiple instances of the plugin routed to different speaker channels but respond to automation together as a simple workaround. This if its too hard to implement Multi-mono feature and relyās on the plugin developers. Like Q-LINK but for channel plugins please.
Itās not optimal but, at least for Stereo tracks, I use Wave Studio Rack to implement this kind of functionality.
Itās annoying that Macro controls donāt reflect the Plugin setting (You have to look at the Plugin GUI while setting it) but it does the job.
Moreover, Waves Studio Rack allows for crazy serial/parallel setup of plugin chains.
