The Fairlight MFX had this:
When you put something into the copy paste buffer it would end up in a list of say 15 recent clips.
You could then go to a place and with a shortcut paste items from the list.
These lists could ideally be grouped into banks and then saved/recalled.
This would be much like a sampler, but the clips would end up in the timeline for convenient mixing/editing.
For example:
Imagine a house with different doorbells / telephone sounds for each family.
With this function you could switch to the bank “doorbell”, shuttle to the desired position and quickly paste the desired file into the timeline with a key command.
