Hi, I have 3 flows and when I go to export a pdf of the soprano voice (or any part) the document reads the flow I selected, but also half a page of flow 2 even tho flow 2 is unchecked. Can you please check the file? Thank you
GOD REST YE MERRY GENTLEMEN.dorico (2.6 MB)
When you choose to print flows, Dorico will print the pages on which that flow appears. If other things appear on those pages, they will get printed too. In this case, it looks like you have a new flow starting at the bottom of that page, so it gets printed.
Thanks for getting back to me. That’s not what i have on my end. On my screenshot, in Write Mode, the page on the left is the last page of Flow 1 and the page on the right is the first page of Flow 2.
You mentioned the soprano part in your original post, so that’s what I was referring to.
When I print the first flow from the full score layout that you’re showing in your latest post, I don’t get anything extra.
I guess my question then is, shouldn’t the soprano voice end where flow number 1 ends? If I select Soprano in the Layouts in Print mode, why would it include any content from flow 2? I did a Save As where I deleted Flows 2 and 3 and the soprano part printed fine. So I’m confused about this.
In the soprano part, flow 1 ends in the middle of p.4, and flow 2 begins at the bottom of that page. As I indicated above, when you ask Dorico to print flow 1, it will print all of the pages on which flow 1 appears – including anything else that appears on those pages. In this case, it will print pp.1-4, which includes the beginning of flow 2.
Similarly, if you ask Dorico to print flow 2, it will start on p.4 and will include the end of flow 1.
ahh OK. thanks
ohhhh, thank you. I didn’t even think of going into Setup mode. I thought in Print Mode, if you just select what Flow you want, then that’s what you will get. Thanks for taking the time!
Printing starts with a layout, and as @Janus indicated, the soprano layout contains 2 flows. If you then specify that you only want to print one of those flows, the rules that I laid out earlier, about printing the pages that contain that flow, apply. Dorico will not change the contents of your layout in Print mode.
Ok cool.
