Multiple issues with Dorico

First - long time finale user - this has been an exercise in frustration. So - the audio engine wont load - i worked around this by opening cubase first, but there’s got to be a better way. Also, i cant get my midi controller to input anything into Dorico. I checked back in finale and it works fine. Then i have issues with mapping finale files into dorico etc. but the audio engine stall and the midi inputs are huge problems right now. Please help.

Hi @Mark_McInerney, and welcome to the Forum.

I am sorry to hear that you had some initial problems. And this can be frustrating. But good news: you are in the right place now, where all of your Dorico issues will be eventually resolved.

Can you describe what happens when you try to start Dorico? if you manage to start it with your workaround, can you then create a Diagnostic zip file from the Help menu and post it here, for the Team to have a look?

Did you check if, in the Preferences/Play your MIDI Input device/s are listed and checked? If so, do you see the little green light on the bottom right corner of the Dorico window, when you press some buttons/keys of your MIDI devices?

What you mean with mapping? What are you trying to do?

Lastly, you posted a link to the generic Dropbox login. Can you check that, if you wanted to link some file, that the correct link is posted?

i have checked the available midi devices - the device is there - but i dont see where i can check what port its attached to etc

Just check the checkmark for your needed device:

Which device are you using? Can you post a screenshot of the same place of the Preferences/Midi Input devices in your system?

ill do this in about an hour - have to run to a doc appt

Now dorico wont even open… Finale had its issues, but this is ridiculous

I feel like a serial complainer - but now Dorico is asking me to reload HALION Sonic and Groove Agent SE…why?

I see that 3 of 6 devices are not activated. You didn’t answer to what MIDI device are you using.

the MPK mini Plus

For this, you need to force quit the VST audio engine in Activity Monitor if you are on MacOS or in the Task manager if you are on Window. (more help will come from the Team, about this).

ok done

You didn’t answer this, too.

EDIT: @Mark_McInerney wrote me a message that the green light is NOT going on (he reached the limit on the Forum, being a new user)

No, complain as much as you want, it’s the best way to get things fixed.

The Dorico team need to analyse the logs to find out why the audio engine isn’t loading. It can be down to particular VSTis in some cases, but there are lots of potential reasons.

So, after force quitting the VST audio engine, and you start Dorico, does it starts? (without the Cubase workaround).

I will get you up and running, trust me. Probably it’s best to have a remote screen sharing session, but we can discuss that via mail.
