I’m scoring for film and I imported a tempo map. I’m making a metric modulation from quarter to dotted quarter but the tempo isn’t exact so Dorico doesn’t want to display this without messing up my tempo map. To overcome this issue, I want to simply type the metric modulation in manually and hide the real tempo so it’s easy for the players to understand but I can’t figure out how to make the tempo size and this music font the same without guessing.
Are you using Dorico 5 or Dorico 6?
Dorico 6.
- Add System Text at the desired position, using Shift+Alt/Opt+X
- Set the paragraph style to “Tempo (Metronome Mark)”
- Right-click and do Insert Music Text
- Insert the first note character you want; if you don’t see it displayed in Recently Used, then search for characters starting with
metNote
- Type the
=
character and then a space - Right-click, Insert Music Text, and insert the second note character
- Highlight each note character, and change the character style to “Metronome Mark Music Text”
Your system text now matches the style of a metric modulation entered in the tempo popover.
