Music XML Import Guitar Notes/TAB Problems

I have a Music XML guitar file that imports correctly into Finale, Notion, and other programs … but not correctly in Dorico Pro 5.1.

Here is the XML document (created with Presonus Notion 6):
PC_Bistro_Fada.xml (202.2 KB)

The original (before export) looks like this:

This is how it looks after importing in dorico:

I tried layout options:

And end up with this:

Any idea why it is creating an extra TAB an octave lower and out of sync?

Hi! As usual, with xml imports, it’s really save to go through all instruments in Setup mode and Change instrument (in the instrument menu) to the same apparent instrument: this actually wires everything correctly under the hood, which is sometimes not the case after importing the xml file. The problem here is with the second guitar, by the way.
Here’s an import with some modifications… I don’t know why the second guitar has so much material, it does not appear in your initial picture, but clearly Dorico has not created it. I suppose there was a hidden track (for playback?) in the original file? With voices colours on, you see what you need to filter and delete in order to get what you want
PC_Bistro_Fada.dorico (1,8 Mo)

Glad Marc could give you a solution.

In the future, please post slightly larger images. The Layout Options screen is really too small to read clearly. Discourse will shrink the image within your message; but if one posts a larger image, clicking on it will show a larger, more legible version.

Marc … thanks for your reply. I’ll try your suggestions.

I still don’t understand why I only have this problem when I’m using Dorico… The same XML file imports perfectly into my other notation programs without any additional intervention.

Derrek,

Noted … thanks.
